October Outreach Events at Filanc

SDSU Open House

San Diego State UniversityOn October 25th, Filanc hosted an open house for students enrolled in the SDSU J.R. Filanc Construction Engineering and Management Program. Omar Rodea has been collaborating with the program by host lecturing or guest speaking at several construction engineering classes at SDSU. In order to maintain our involvement with the program, we decided to host an open house and invited the students and academia staff to visit our office, meet our staff, October Outreach Events SDSUand learn more about Filanc and the types of projects we build. The goal of the event is to spark interest by the students to take on an internship or full time project  engineer position at Filanc. Mark Pipczynski and Miguel Sanchez did a presentation of our P-1220 Raw Water Pipeline Project at Camp Pendleton to better communicate how interesting and challenging our projects can be. Thanks to our office staff for participating and special thanks to Julia Masaitis for organizing a very successful event.

Escondido High School Job Shadow Day

October Outreach Events Escondido COMPACTOn October 19th, Filanc participated in the Escondido Education COMPACT Annual Job Shadow Day. On this day, the Escondido COMPACT program had over a hundred high school students visit numerous career professionals in a career they are interested in. Filanc hosted two students, a senior from Orange Glen High School and a junior from Escondido High School. They both had the opportunity to sit with a few of our employees to learn more about career opportunities in our industry. Thanks to Omar Rodea, Tony Ruiz, Bryan Senti, Jean Pirkl, and Miguel Sanchez for taking time to give these students insight into what Filanc does and hopefully prompt an interest by the students to pursue a career in construction or engineering.
