Miramar Engineers joined Weardco to create a true design-build collaboration.

1981

Mark Filanc joins the company as a project manager.

1982

The company successfully completes its first design-build project, Trabuco Canyon Wastewater Treatment Plant in El Toro, CA.

1982

Bob Butler and Barney Daxon retire and the company moves its headquarters from Santa Fe Springs in Los Angeles County to Vista in San Diego County on Olive Avenue. The move calls for a big party.

1982

A design-build developer takes Filanc to Santa Cruz Island to hunt for sheep and pigs. The Filanc’s were hooked and the tradition of annual hunting trips began.

1986

Dean Wearda retires and Jack Filanc buys Wearda out shortly after.

1987

Company completes repairs and expansion of San Diego‚Äôs Pump Station 64, earning it the distinction of being named American Public Works Association “Contractor of the Year.”
