1952

Jack Filanc teams with Dean Wearda, Bob Butler and Barney Daxon to form a general engineering construction enterprise. One night late, after maybe a couple of beers, they decide to name their new venture Weardco Construction Corp. (Weardco).

1953

First project awarded to Weardco was the Delano Earlimart Irrigation District project as a subcontractor to United Concrete Pipe Corp.

1953

Weardco posts first-year revenues of $100,000 and survives its first year of flack over its “weird” company name.

1955

First company joint venture project was the Texas Hill Canal in Yuma, AZ for the Bureau of Reclamation.

1957

Orange County Sanitation District awarded our first project as prime contractor and our first wastewater project. The project included two primary clarifiers and a pump station.

1958

Weardco was awarded their first San Diego County project, the Pomerado Sewage Treatment Plant in Poway, CA for the Pomerado District.

1958

Annual Christmas party tradition began in the executives’ homes.
